Minecraft Care Package Part 1

This is a fun little project I did a few summers ago while on an internship.  Minecraft was super big at the time and I used to play with a friend.

So we start with the box, obviously has to be a treasure chest.

Started with a a shoebox and covered it with some light brown construction paper.  I took a little piece of scrap cardboard for the lock/latch.

Inside I decided to make a typical Minecraft field but I wanted it to have a little secret compartment.  Where better to hide your secrets than the Nether.

First I lined the top and upper walls of the box to with blue construction paper

I lined the bottom with black construction paper and added in some hill details along the edges.  Now the "ground".  To make sure it would open well, I fit a piece of cardboard to the inside of the box and covered that in black and green construction paper.

Now the Nether Portal. This was made of scrapbooking paper carefully estimated to the 5x4 portal from the game.  The purple sparkle paper was just perfect.

Oh no! Cave in
I used some extra cardboard (painted black) to make a lattice to support the weight of the floor and the future goodies inside.

Next time, all the goodies that go inside!
